the shoes of an anachronism

My life explained by my ridiculously large collection of shoes.
Ah, here are these ridiculous silver Jessica Simpson peek-toe pumps. Another pair from my senior pictures—- and I think I wore them to prom?
Yes, yes I did. I wore them to prom my—— Junior(?) year of high school. I went to Prom five times (I always flirted my way into a date, believe it or not) and it is hard for me to remember what I wore to all of them. I sort of stopped caring what I put on after my second one. Actually, one of my dresses I picked up for $5 at an H&M in New York. Damn Straight. I now have turned that dress into a Poison Ivy costume (which I wore with matching patent green leather heels that I will feature in my blog at a later time).
Ah, remembering.

The Grateful Dead Converse Low-tops
I wore these shoes to take my senior pictures in for high school (thus why I have such amazing pictures… not taken with my crappy phone camera).
These were a birthday present from Scott. Well, after I took back the weird present he bought me initially. He was so excited and came with a large box (a week before my birthday because he is horribly impatient). I opened it to find a pair of knee high Chuck Taylors. My facial expression must have been priceless. Let me elaborate. I am 5’2 and it was my 18th(?) birthday. There was no way in hell I was wearing those shoes.
We went back and picked out something equally as funky—- but a thousand times more practical. Plus I had enough money to get another pair of cute slip-ons.

These are vintage Stewart Weiztman’s in gold. I’ve dubbed these my “Cinderella shoes” because they look sort of like glass slippers when you wear them. To be honest, I’ve only worn them once to a recital in the dead of winter with snow on the ground. Pretty stupid move with such wicked weather (and leather soles)—- but I wanted so badly to put them on with my red Isaac Mizrahi dress. There are few occasions when I can actually wear these shoes— but I may wear them during one of my recitals…. or at my wedding. Haha.

I don’t know. There is something about these shoes that is so lovely. The picture really doesn’t do them justice.

These are the shoes I wore today. I purchased them off of Urban Outfitters (I know, hipster alert) on a whim. I love the print—- sort of Aztec like. It sort of goes with a weird theme I have had for my life since I went hiking in the mountains: Cowboys and Indians. I know, very 1960’s/70’s childhood? I don’t know. I guess I started watching too many spaghetti westerns… and before I knew it I wanted to buy a Mexican falsa poncho to wear around as an actual accessory. Have yet to find said poncho…. but I will….
